Thanks for stopping at the water’s edge. Being a fisherman, a writer, and holder of an Irish passport, I have always been suspicious of new things. I was late to get a computer, late to get a cell phone, late to text, late to get married… late to the internet. My lament about modern times is that there is too much communication and not enough content. I hope to strike a useful balance on this page.
I’m not a fan of Donald Rumsfeld, but I’ve always been taken by the truth in his pronouncement: “You don’t go to war with the army you want, you go to war with the army you have.” Sometimes they’re one and the same, which is why I’m happy to take my chances with this web site — armed with my various writing endeavors — books, movies, music. There are a few oldies (because old soldiers never die…), but mostly the focus will be on current and upcoming projects.
This is for two reasons: As Satchel Paige once said, “Don’t look back, they might be gaining.” From my own experience, I’ve learned that no matter what anybody tells you about where to fish, how to fish, or what to fish with, the singular truth about fishing is you won’t catch anything if your bait’s not on the water.
With this site, my bait is officially… and almost technologically au courant… on the water. For those of you with a short attention span, there are some pictures. Couple of songs, too.
